Finding a mode of transportation in Fiji is not hard, but without a little assistance, our one main road island still often turns out to be a little bit confusing. One moment there will be a cab driver more than willing to provide you with a lift (many times with his meter off), the next minute you may find traveling in the bus to be an entertaining and cheap way to get between two points. If you have not yet arrange your transport from the airport, have no fear, Backer’s Guide and our Airport Meet n Greet can certainly relieve your mind of that burden.
Fiji has transportation services such as bus, taxi, public minivan (very popular), resort pickups, car rentals, boats (to and from the islands), motor bikes and scooters (mainly for hire). This multitude of options will make your traveling easy in Fiji. They are timely, safe, and accessible and you will be able to reach your desired destination without any major hassle.
Fiji buses tend to run every half hour on the main roads all around Viti Levu. You should be able to get a taxi service provider almost anywhere on the main islands. Most Resorts can arrange your taxi service.
There are many villages along the side of the roads here in Fiji and you will see a slice of village life close up seemingly every 5km or so… Be considerate if you are driving and observe the national speed limit of 80km always slow down near villages, remember to wear your seat belt as soon as you enter your car and drive safe and smart.
